We’re thrilled to announce that we’ve integrated Chainlink Data Streams on Arbitrum. Chainlink's industry-standard pull-based low-latency oracle solution now powers Ostium's decentralized perpetuals on crypto assets.
Our initial integration involves the use of the BTC/USD and ETH/USD Chainlink Data Streams. We chose Chainlink Data Streams as our preferred low-latency oracle solution for crypto feeds because they supply premium high-frequency market data using Chainlink’s proven infrastructure. Chainlink’s track record of performance and security allow Ostium to leverage high-speed onchain execution without compromising on transparency and decentralization.
The Ostium Protocol is an open-sourced, decentralized exchange on Ethereum Layer 2 Arbitrum, enabling transparent and non-custodial trading on both digital and Real World Assets. More specifically, Ostium is building decentralized trading infrastructure to allow you to trade any asset as a perp—all fully onchain. With Ostium, users gain access to a wide array of assets and the ability to engage in perpetual trading with transparency and control.
Secure, high-frequency market data is critical to facilitating this trading experience for onchain users. Ostium needed on-demand access to high-frequency market data backed by decentralized and transparent infrastructure. This integration not only ensures excellent performance but also aligns with our commitment to a secure and reliable DeFi ecosystem.
Chainlink Data Streams supports a number of critical features:
- Sub-second price resolutions: Chainlink Data Streams provide sub-second data delivery using battle-tested oracle infrastructure, enabling a highly performant user experience without compromising on DeFi values such as decentralization and transparency.
- Frontrunning protection: Chainlink Data Streams make use of conflict of interest-free data sources and a commit and reveal architecture to help ensure traders and liquidity sources are protected against malicious price manipulation and information arbitrage.
- Improved risk management: With Data Streams, protocols receive access to a growing array of data beyond price, including granular market liquidity and volatility data that enables improved capital efficiency and dynamic updates to risk management parameters.
- Time-tested infrastructure: Chainlink is a platform with proven robust security, hyper-reliability, and high quality data that’s been operating in production for years, helping enable over $12 trillion dollars in onchain transaction volume for leading DeFi applications.
“We're excited to integrate Chainlink Data Streams into Ostium, which is a significant step in our commitment to delivering a secure, transparent, and efficient experience for our users. Chainlink's low-latency oracle solution enables users to access performant, secure, and high-frequency market data across Ostium’s digital asset offerings,” says Kaledora Kiernan-Linn, co-founder of Ostium Labs..

About Ostium
Ostium is building perpetuals trading infrastructure to enable the ‘perpification’ of both digital and Real World Assets – beginning with crypto, FX, commodities, and indices. Core to Ostium’s thesis is the belief that perpetuals will front-run tokenization to become the preferred method for onboarding non-digital assets onto blockchains, offering a more scalable, reactive, and crypto-native solution that focuses on enabling trading rather than simply holding assets. Ostium is live on Arbitrum testnet today with 19 assets, including USD/JPY, Nikkei225, WTI Oil, Bitcoin, and more.
